This review is after a month of usage:
So I decided to take the big leap and instead of buying a low/mid range rig/cockpit I got the P1 Black. The reason I got the black was because the silver was too cold and the anodized black looked too nice 🙂
Well, the expectations were high after seeing some online reviews about Sim-Lab and their P1 Rig.
This rig met all my expectations, very sturdy and strong, built from heavy duty materials, the anodized black is very nice indeed. The rig is very solid and every small detail is looked after by Sim-Lab from a large frame to a something small as a nut and screw. Assembling wasn’t a huge issue, I’m not really a technical person and managed to assemble the P1 without problems. For sure a recommended piece of equipment for someone looking to buy a rig that will last forever.

Great Cockpit, easy to set up, and the customer service is the best!

Stop thinking about it and just buy it.

This is the last rig that you will ever need to buy, it will last for ever, it is rock solid and so adjustable, it will suit everyone and every setup. The black is more expensive, but looks so much better in my opinion, all my gear is black, it looks amazing. I’ve had my rig for a few months now and have spent a good time testing and adjusting things and now have it perfect. I adjusted the width of the pedal deck, so it now fits inside the rig, giving even more adjustments. I found that the pedals were too high for me using standard settings. Adjustments are so easy to do, and are practically endless. I’m waiting for a new wheel base to come and have no worries about it fitting. You get plenty of spare fixings, so adding pieces on later will be no problem.

As for SIM-LAB, I’ve never had such a good experience of customer service, a pure pleasure to deal with. I dealt with Darko throughout and he was so helpful, he answered all (there were a lot, sorry) my emails promptly, sometimes even at midnight, amazing. I don’t usually leave reviews, but this rig and business deserved one, buy it now, you will have no regrets.

    Thanks SIM-LAB

I have the Black P1 for some Time now and I have to say it really is flawless. Before I had a Simetik K2 which was also pretty good but there were some things that weren’t perfect.
There was some flex with HE Pro’s and the OSW was also a little bit to much for the K2.

So I had to step up to an ALU Rig which I did not want to buy in the first place because I think the silver ones look bad and I have to have it in my living room, so I wanted something that looks good.
Thank God Simlab offers Black versions of their Rig and now the only thing that I was concerned about was gone.

I really have to say this thing looks gorgeous and it is a Tank, there is Zero flex anywhere!

Hi, very good rig, extremely stable and the structure is like a Tank and also very flexible to configure. The support of Sim Labs is excellent. Very fast response and always equipped with sustainable options. The rig is easy to configure for any setup and thus an all-rounder. Price / performance is very good. Clear recommendation from my side

Incredible rig! Super rigid and seemingly infinite adjustability. The black finish is extremely sleek and worth the extra cost. Any questions I had were answered very quickly and the product arrived in great condition. Not too difficult to put together, just takes time to do so carefully (to avoid scratching the black surface). Would definitely recommend this rig.

Just got my P1 Rig Black. First to the good:
    1. Packaged nice and neat into 3 boxes
    2. Once built everything is solid and super sturdy
    3. Really adjustable
    4. Looks great
    Now to the bad:
They give absolutely no instructions on how to build this thing. I honestly thought it’d be easy as the final product looks really simple, but omg was I wrong. It took me about 8.5 hours to build it. Its a complete waste of time for nothing. They give you hundreds of different screws and parts (which are all mixed together btw) and you just guess which goes where and for what. Then once you get it wrong, you obviously have to rebuild everything. Since the parts are really heavy, it annoys even more then IKEA.
Once you get to the seat slider, its even more of a nightmare, since you not only have no clue which screws to use, but also how to operate them or which direction the sliders should even face. Since they are new, it really is hard to make them slide so you get to the holes which connect them to the base (that is once you actually figure out how to place them). This part alone takes hours!!! Again complete waste of time and energy.

I mean, probably one could build this whole thing in 2 to 3 hours with instructions, but since they decided not to include anything you will waste A LOT of your time, nerves and your back is going to really hurt.

Was it worth it? I honestly don’t know yet since I still can not find a comfortable seating position.

Hi, sorry to hear that you havent found our downloadable instructions and schematics! Also, on theproduct page there is a 1 hour video of how to put it together.

First i just want to say that the customer support is top notch. Now as for the rig, pictures don’t do justice. It does look good in pictures but better in person. It’s very very very solid, its like a tank. Going to be used with the Fanatec DD1 wheel base. Once build its about 120lbs without the seat and very difficult to move around if you don’t have wheels on it, so make sure you plan ahead. Sitting in it feels like jumping in and out of a real car, except that its higher and much easier to get in and out.

I really enjoyed assembling this and they also give you extra t nuts and screws which is awesome. Just a side note, if you’re not technically inclined, and don’t know how to put a nut and bolt together then its going to be a bit difficult to assemble.

Rock solid. I work as a developer on a simulation platform, and this is my at-home workstation rig. It does take some effort to build, but it is an extremely solid piece of kit that should last decades, no problem. It’s so good, in fact, that I’ve spec’d out two more P1 chassis to build a pair of workstation rigs for our office.

      Thanks Matt! 🙂

This P1 rig makes me so happy. I’m sure I’m like a lot people reading these reviews… I did my research and all info suggested P1 is the best turnkey solution. I considered several other options, but ultimately decided to accept the delays that come along with a high-demand product. I am in the US and also considered total price with shipping. I am convinced this P1 is still a great value especially compared to anything else out there.

Like many others, Darko helped me along the way by sharing info and providing email updates very frequently (thank you again Darko). Once my order was processed, it took only 2 or 3 days to get to me in TX. I set aside several hours on a Friday night and had a buddy assist me with main assembly. It’s true, there are no step-by-step instructions, but I found it very intuitive (and the SRG video is key). Definitely had a few moments where I assembly something and realize, no that’s not right, so you just work backward and start again. It was actually incredibly fun. I’ve done plenty of fine tune adjustments and the P1 accommodates. I also recently got the Protosimtech PT2 pedals and dialed them in today. By the way, I mounted a Sparco EVO II seat (sitting in it now…) and I found a very good seating position and relative to pedals.

Honestly, I will say this P1 has been a game changer for me – I am so glad to have it. I thought my previous set up was pretty cool (gt omega wheel/pedal stand), but it is just shocking how much more immersed I am since everything (wheel, seat, pedals, monitor) are basically now 1 single piece.

    Thanks again Sim-Lab!

      Thanks Keith! 🙂
