Frequently Asked Questions

What does GRID Engineering make for sim racing?

GRID Engineering produces sim racing dashboards, steering wheels, button boxes and cockpit electronics. The current range includes the GRID DDU-5, Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Dashboard Display Unit and Button Box Console, Porsche 911 RSR Sim Racing Steering Wheel, GRID MPX V2, GRID Brows and mounting hardware for dashboard displays.

What is a sim racing dashboard or DDU?

A DDU, or Dashboard Display Unit, is a separate screen that shows race and vehicle data while you drive. The GRID DDU-5 uses a 5-inch display with 20 adjustable RGB LEDs, while the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Dashboard Display Unit uses a 10.3-inch, 1920 x 720 display based on the dashboard in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

Which GRID sim racing dashboard should I choose?

Choose the GRID DDU-5 if you want a compact dashboard display that can work across different sim racing setups. It uses a 5-inch LCD and 20 RGB LEDs. The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Dashboard Display Unit is the larger option, with a true-size 10.3-inch display based on the Porsche GT3 Cup dashboard.

What does a sim racing button box do?

A button box adds separate controls for functions that you do not want to operate from the steering wheel or keyboard. The officially licensed Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (991) Button Box Console provides 42 individual inputs, including a backlit seven-way switch, and uses a 75 x 75 mm VESA mounting pattern.

What is the difference between the GRID MPX V2 and Porsche 911 RSR steering wheel?

The GRID MPX V2 is a 295 mm sim racing steering wheel with configurable controls, paddle shifters and individually adjustable LEDs. It connects to PC wheelbases via USB. The Porsche 911 RSR Sim Racing Steering Wheel is based on the Porsche 911 RSR (991.2) and adds an integrated 5-inch display alongside extensive illuminated controls and telemetry LEDs.

Are GRID Engineering products compatible with all sim racing setups?

Compatibility depends on the product. Steering wheels, dashboards, button boxes and mounting accessories have different connection and mounting requirements. For example, the GRID MPX V2 connects to PC wheelbases via USB, while the GRID DDU Mount has specific compatibility with supported Fanatec, Simagic and Simucube wheelbases.
